Biografía

Nato a Firenze nel 1925, ha frequentato l’Accademia di Belle Arti ed il Gruppo Donatello, insieme ad altri artisti tra cui Vinicio Berti, Lazzaro Donati, Pirzio, Alfio Rapisardi.
Nel 1954 si è trasferito a Parigi ed ha iniziato ad esporre in mostre collettive e personali, continuando poi a Firenze, dove è rientrato nel 1960. Sposatosi con un’americana, si è trasferito poi negli Stati Uniti, dove ha vissuto per una decina di anni, a contatto con quel vulcanico ambiente. In questi anni matura uno stile tendenzialmente astratto, con richiami ancestrali all’informale, scavando in un indimenticato espressionismo figurativo.
Sue opere si trovano in collezioni private e pubbliche importanti negli USA (Ford, Rockefeller, Onan, Humphrey).
Rientra in Italia per l’impossibilità di vivere lontano dalla sua officina atavica dell’arte. Vive e lavora nel Chianti, tra Firenze e Siena.
Nel 1987 si è impegnato in una mostra unica al mondo dei Sassi di Matera, nell’ambito di una dinamica attività culturale che perpetua il mito della Magna Grecia.
Nel 1988 ha esposto insieme al grande architetto paesaggista statunitense Lawrence Halprin, immagini e proiezioni sul futuro sviluppo di Firenze (la Firenze del 2000), in una mostra patocinata dalla Fiat.
Nonostante il suo carattere schivo, è tornato ad esporre in California, pressato dagli amici estimatori, che volevano rendere partecipi gli altri delle emozioni che esprime attraverso le immagini: cieli che si trasformano su terre che talora sembrano osteggiarsi o addirittura aggredirsi. Sentimenti ed emozioni che si possono avere soltanto guardando le sue opere. Produce di giorno, di notte: non fa differenza. Si ferma per vedere un’alba, un tramonto, degli esseri umani, e subito core alle sue tele nude per vestirle delle sue emozioni. Vive nelle terre toscane dove l’arte scocca come un lampo tra olivi e boschi, cinghiali e anatre, mentre nell’aria echeggia il fragore di antiche battaglie e il luccichìo di spade e corazze rinascimentali. Non ha esigenze consumistiche.

Born in Florence in 1925, he attended the Academy of Fine Art and he was then part of the Donatello Group, with such artists as Vinicio Berti, Lazzaro Donati, Pirzio, Alfio Rapisardi.
in 1954 he moved to Paris. He started producing with other artists and artisans, and had his first show in both personal and collective exhibitions which would later be resumed in Florence, where he returned in 1960. He married a young american woman. He moved to the United States where he lived for ten years. Here he got the opportunity to be part of the volcanic, bursting artistic universe of the new world. During this period he developed a style which tended towards the abstract, but with ancestral calls to the informal and, deep down, to a never forgotten figurative expressionism.
Some of his works belong to private and public collections in the USA (Henry Ford, Rockefeller, Onan and the former Vice-President Hubert Humphrey).
He then returned to Italy, urged by the strong feeling which bound him to his atavic workshop of art, Tuscany. He lives and works in Chianti, between Florence and Siena.
In 1987 he accepted to work for an exhibition in the unique prehistoric setting of “Sassi di Matera”, where the myth of Magna Graecia alive in the deep south.
In 1988 the great landscape architect Lawrence Halprin and Alvaro Baragli Exhibited paintings and drawings on images and projections on the future growth of Florence.. The exhibition was supported by Fiat.
Alvaro Baragli is reluctant, but he showed again in California because of the insistence of friends who praise his work and wish to let others share the emotions he expressed through images: transmuting skies over lands in conflict with each other. Feelings and emotions which can only be reached by observing his paintings. He produces day and night, regardless. He pauses to gaze at a down scene, a sunset, or passing people and then rushed back to his bare canvas to dress it up with emotions. He lives in the Tuscan countyside where art darts like lightning among olive groves and woods, wild boars and duks, while the crash of ancient battles and the flashing of Renaissance swords and armor echo in the air. He does not have consumer needs.
